— WHY MAINSPRING

Craftsmanship You Can Trace

Assessment Before Work

A written diagnosis is shared with you before any work begins. No surprises on the final invoice — only what was agreed in advance.

Documentation for Every Job

All work is recorded. Vintage projects receive photographic and written documentation that stays with the watch for future owners.

Hands-On Repair, No Outsourcing

Your watch stays in our Nimmanhaemin Road workshop. Work is done by the person you speak with — not sent to a third party.

Clear, Transparent Pricing

Service prices are published openly. Any additional parts costs are itemised and discussed with you before they are ordered.

Realistic Timelines

You receive an honest estimate for completion at the time of assessment, along with progress notes if a project takes longer than expected.

Period Parts, Carefully Sourced

For vintage and collector pieces, we source parts that are appropriate to the original specification — not generic substitutes where originality matters.

— COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I send my watch to you if I am not in Chiang Mai?
We are happy to receive watches by registered post or courier. We recommend using tracked and insured shipping. Once received, we will inspect the piece and contact you before any work begins. We can also advise on suitable packaging if you need guidance.
How long does a full movement overhaul typically take?
A standard mechanical overhaul generally takes between three and six weeks, depending on the movement type and parts availability. Vintage and complicated pieces may take a little longer. We give you a timeline at the assessment stage and keep you updated if anything changes.
Will the cosmetic appearance of my watch be changed during restoration?
We take a sympathetic approach to cosmetics and will always discuss this with you in advance. For vintage pieces in particular, we prefer to preserve original finishes where possible rather than re-polishing surfaces that carry the patina of age. Any cosmetic work is agreed with you beforehand.
What does the Vintage Revival documentation include?
The documentation package includes photographs taken at key stages of the work, a written record of the parts inspected and replaced, and a summary of the condition before and after the project. This becomes part of the watch's history and is yours to keep.
Are your prices fixed, or are there additional charges?
The service fees shown are the workshop labour charges. If parts need to be replaced, we will itemise those costs and discuss them with you before ordering. You will never receive a bill for parts you did not agree to in advance.
Do you work on all watch brands?
We work on most Swiss and Japanese mechanical and quartz movements, as well as many vintage pieces from European and American makers. If you are unsure whether your watch is suitable, please contact us with details and photographs — we will give you an honest assessment.
